A Trainee Utility Locator is an in-depth 2-year training program, whereby you get paid to learn how to become an experienced Utility Locator!

This training program assists in the undertaking of subsurface utility investigation projects, supporting utility survey teams to ensure project outcomes are met. This is a Perth metro-based role.

You will learn how to:

• Locate, identify and mark all underground utilities to Utility Mapping colour code standards

• Carry out transportation and maintenance of NDD Vacuum excavation trailers

• Work with NDD Vacuum excavation trailer and carry out potholing activities

• Work with locating equipment including ground penetrating radar (GPR)

• Interpret existing utility information plans and ground penetrating radar survey data

• Prepare DBYD information, field notes and sketches

We are seeking someone with:

• Proficiency with digital devices and technology

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to move safely over uneven terrain

• Ability to distinguish Uniform Colour Codes used for utility line marking

• Ability to drive light vehicles including trailer mounted vacuum excavation equipment

Key requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
