Trade Marks Attorney – Melbourne/Brisbane

At MBIP we are offering an exciting opportunity for an Australian Registered Trade Marks Attorney, who is preferably also an admitted lawyer, who is interested in joining our growing team.  

Varied and stimulating workload  - Serving a diversity of clients including multinational corporations, wineries, cosmetic companies, car manufacturers, food and beverage manufacturers and medical appliance developers, to name a few.  

Mentoring and career progression - this role will see you working closely with our highly experienced Trade Marks practitioners - our Principal, our Special Counsel and our Senior Associate (with over 50 years in the IP industry combined). 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Trade mark application drafting, prosecution and registration 

• Preparing, reviewing and giving advice in relation to enforcement, infringement and validity/searches 

• Opposition work before the Australian Trade Marks Office 

• Managing local and international trade mark portfolios for a wide variety of clients 

You are someone who: 

• Has 2+ years experience in the specialised area of trade marks law 

• Is preferably an admitted lawyer and qualified as an Australian Registered Trade Marks Attorney 

• Is organised, able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines 

• Has great people skills and the ability to work in a personable and professional way with clients and other team members 

• Takes a problem-solving approach with a commercial mindset 

• Is enthusiastic about identifying opportunities to promote yourself and our firm 

• Is motivated to achieve individual goals while contributing to our firm’s collective goals

Location: Options to work out of our office in Melbourne’s CBD, our beautiful character building in Red Hill, Brisbane, or our centrally located office in Spring Hill, Brisbane.  Hybrid and working from home arrangements can be considered also.
