Structural Steel Shop Supervisor

About the role

Milkon Steel is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Shop Supervisor to join our team in Seaford, Victoria. This is a full-time role where you will be responsible for overseeing the fabrication and production of high-quality structural steel components for a range of commercial and industrial construction projects.

What you'll be doing

• Supervise a team of welders, boilermakers and other skilled tradespeople in the fabrication workshop

• Coordinate and schedule production to ensure timely delivery of client orders

• Monitor quality control and compliance with relevant safety and industry standards

• Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to upskill the fabrication team

• Liaise with project managers, engineers and clients to understand requirements and specifications

• Identify process improvements and implement lean manufacturing techniques to increase efficiency

• Maintain detailed records and documentation for all production activities

What we're looking for

• Substantial experience (5+ years) as a Structural Steel Supervisor or Foreman in a fabrication workshop

• Comprehensive knowledge of welding techniques, steel fabrication processes and quality control procedures

• Excellent project management and problem-solving skills to coordinate complex workflows

• Strong leadership and people management abilities to motivate and upskill a team

• Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications

• A relevant trade qualification or certificate in Welding, Boilermaking or Structural Steel Fabrication

• Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety
