Required Qualifications:

At least a Diploma or higher qualification in Business Management, Retail Operations, or a related field

 

Required Experience:

At least 1 year of work experience in a retail or wholesale environment, preferably in the meat or food distribution industry. This experience should include responsibilities in staff supervision, inventory management, product sales, and customer service operations.

 

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of meat and seafood products, including handling, labelling, and display requirements

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to advise on product use and storage

  • Familiarity with stock control procedures including rotation, wastage minimisation, and replenishment

  • Ability to set competitive retail pricing in alignment with seasonal trends and supplier costs

  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems, invoicing, and inventory management software

  • Understanding of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP) and cold chain requirements

  • Skills in managing promotions and upselling techniques

  • Strong leadership in training and supervising customer-facing retail staff

  • Ability to maintain cleanliness, compliance, and presentation of the retail section

  • Organisational and time management skills to coordinate daily retail operations efficiently

 

Proposed tasks: 

As the Retail Manager at Friendship Group, the successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing all retail operations of the business’s meat and seafood products. Duties will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the retail section, ensuring smooth and efficient customer service

  • Determining retail product mix based on customer preferences, supplier availability, and seasonal trends

  • Setting and reviewing pricing structures for retail meat and seafood products

  • Promoting and advertising retail meat and seafood through promotions and marketing initiatives

  • Monitoring the freshness and presentation of meat products on display and coordinating timely replenishment

  • Providing retail customers with advice on cuts and product use to encourage repeat business

  • Maintaining accurate stock records, conducting regular stocktakes, and placing retail orders accordingly

  • Undertaking sales forecasting, budgeting, and tracking financial transactions for retail sales

  • Supervising and training retail staff in customer service, product knowledge, food safety, and POS usage

  • Ensuring compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations, food handling requirements, and retail standards

  • Coordinating with internal teams (e.g., procurement, cold storage) to ensure timely supply to the retail section

Proposed Annual Earnings for the position:

$60,000 - $77,000, depending on your skills and experience.
