The position holder is responsible for providing technical support in the assembly, testing, installation, and maintenance of pump and motor systems. This includes interpreting technical drawings, conducting performance tests, diagnosing mechanical issues, and ensuring compliance with engineering and safety standards.

The position reports to the Service Manager

Successful position holders are proactive, detail-oriented, and technically competent, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and a focus on delivering high-quality service to clients.

The salary will comprise an attractive salary/compensation package estimated annual earning AUD 76,515-79,000/year plus superannuation.


Task & responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the design and fabrication of custom pump base structures based on client requirements.
  • Assemble and align pump and motor units, ensuring precise shaft alignment for optimal performance.
  • Conduct performance tests (hydrostatic, run testing), monitor results, and interpret data to confirm compliance with technical standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on various pump systems, including brands like Grundfos and Southern Cross.
  • Install and commission pump systems on-site, adhering to safety and quality protocols.
  • Utilise technical documentation and engineering drawings to guide maintenance and repair activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of service and repairs performed.
  • Liaise with internal teams and clients to identify issues and implement improvements in system reliability.

Qualification & experience

 

  • Diploma or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 1 year relevant experience in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and industrial maintenance
  • Proficient in pump system diagnostics, precision alignment, and mechanical fault analysis.
  • Experience with engineering tools and software including CATIA, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Skilled in the use of measuring instruments, CNC machines, and welding equipment (MIG, TIG – AWS certified).
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety systems (e.g., LOTO, ultrasonic testing, forklift safety zones).
