At GHE Lifting, we are seeking a hands-on, results-driven Service Technician / Electronic Instrument Trades Worker (Special Class) to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a technically capable individual who thrives in the field, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to achieving the best possible outcome for our clients.
Since 1965, we’ve been maintaining and inspecting a wide range of specialised lifting and industrial handling equipment for clients across South Australia. This lifting equipment includes;
- Gantry and overhead cranes
- Jib cranes and vacuum lifters
- Chain and polyester slings
- Customised lifting attachments and below-the-hook lifting equipment
You’ll work across varied client sites (and occasionally in our workshop), inspecting, testing, fault-finding, servicing and repairing advanced lifting systems that combine electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic technologies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair electronic and control systems for lifting equipment.
- Inspect and diagnose faults in overhead cranes, hoists, vacuum lifters, slings, and related lifting systems.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and control logic to identify electrical and control faults.
- Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment using diagnostic software, meters, and control interface devices.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 quality and safety standards.
- Maintain service records and inspection reports using company-issued devices and software.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager to coordinate site visits, job scheduling and equipment inspections.
- Train and support junior technicians where appropriate, and assist with continuous safety and compliance practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Recognised trade qualification in electrical or electronic instrumentation (or equivalent overseas certification).
- At least 1 year practical experience working with lifting systems, industrial automation, or electronic control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and understanding of integrated systems (electrical/electronic/hydraulic/pneumatic).
- Ability to work independently on client sites and communicate effectively with team members and clients.
- A current Australian driver’s licence is required.
- Familiarity with ISO standards (9001/14001/45001) is desirable.
- White Card and relevant high-risk work licences (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
