The Senior Machine Learning Engineer role at EML focuses on developing, designing, and optimizing cutting-edge models across Computer Vision (CV), Speech, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and multi-modal tasks.

As part of this role, you will design and evaluate AI models for audio-related tasks like automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech, speech diarization, audio embeddings, and biometrics voiceprints.

Your work will include optimizing models for production, ensuring accuracy through rigorous testing, and collaborating with data engineers and MLOps engineers to build and maintain data pipelines.

This will be a full time. fixed term 12 month contract based in the Sydney office (with the view to be made permanent), with flexibility to work from home up to 3 days per week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and evaluate AI models for audio tasks such as speech recognition, text-to-speech, and audio embeddings.
• Assist MLEs with training models for Computer Vision and NLP tasks.
• Research and implement cutting-edge algorithms and techniques from the latest publications.
• Optimize model performance for production deployment and ensure accuracy through testing and validation.
• Collaborate with data engineers and MLOps engineers to build and maintain data pipelines and contribute to machine learning infrastructure.

ABOUT YOU

• 5+ years of industry experience specialising in Deep Learning, with a focus on audio and speech processing.
• Strong understanding of Audio, CV, and NLP concepts, including self-supervised pretraining, non-autoregressive TTS, Audio Spectrum Transformers, object detection, segmentation, and classification.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Cuda/ROCm libraries, and PTX.
• PhD in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, with published research in deep learning as a plus.
