About the role

Play a crucial role in the RACQ Group Finance team, providing technical accounting support and contributing to the preparation of accurate financial reporting to meet internal management and statutory reporting obligations.

Reporting directly to the Manager Group Finance, utilise your excellent technical accounting skills to provide timely advice on transactions and activities, and support the external audit process, including the preparation of the Group’s and subsidiary statutory financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Business Partnering activities to assist the organisation to meet financial performance objectives and deliver member value.
  • To provide efficient and effective accounting support to the Manager Group Finance and the financial accounting team.
  • Provide financial reporting to management as required.
  • Contribute to Finance Operations processes and the operating effectiveness of internal controls which maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of high-quality financial policies and procedures for the organisation.
  • Producing accounting position papers and advice on complex accounting matters to influence and inform decision making.
  • Support the preparation of the Group’s statutory financial statements and associated information for the timely review by management and the external auditors.

About you

  • University degree in relevant study area (Business, Commerce or Accounting major)
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • An excellent working knowledge Australian Accounting Standards, with demonstrated experience in producing accounting position papers and advice on complex accounting matters.
  • Effective communication, negotiating and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of financial literacy and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of financial literacy and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks to achieve deadlines.
  • Advanced excel spreadsheet skills and the ability to accurately present financial reports from large volumes of financial information in a timely manner.
