About The RoleThe Senior Consultant role sits within the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team in the Occupational Health Safety and Wellbeing Unit (OHSWU). The WHS team works to ensure a safe work environment which supports the physical and mental wellbeing of departmental staff. A key focus is the identification and control of operational health and safety hazards and risks and supporting the implementation of systems and processes to reduce the risk of injury or illness in department workplaces. The role also works with the Health, Wellbeing and Early Intervention team to achieve these outcomes.

About You
- A qualification in occupational health and safety is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, relevant legislation, regulations and standards would be expected.
- Experience in complex work health and occupational health and safety matters would also be advantageous for this role.
- Demonstrated high level understanding of and expertise in the design and implementation of HSW systems andprocesses preferably within a large and complex employer.
We Are Looking For Someone Who Can - Provide leadership and expert advice on matters arising in relation to occupational health and safety legislation, compliance codes and best practice to enhance staff health and safety outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of health and safety management system (HSMS) content to support the department to manage operational and workplace health and safety risks.
- Contribute to the development of, and lead initiatives and processes to support effective prevention, risk management and mitigation practices and monitor and evaluate these initiatives and processes.
- Manage the department's online hazard and incident reporting system and provide appropriate risk management advice and support to manage operational risks including conducting inspections and investigations where required.
