Our client, a leading Utility provider, is embarking on a strategic program of work focused on accelerating its Consumer Energy Resources (CER) and Distributed Energy Resources (DER) capabilities. We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to play a key role in shaping the success of this transformation.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll work across business and technical stakeholders to capture requirements, support solution design, and ensure alignment with regulatory and strategic objectives around distributed energy, customer empowerment, and grid modernisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Elicit, document, and manage business requirements across various CER/DER initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from regulatory, customer, IT, and operational areas.
  • Analyse current-state processes and identify opportunities for optimisation or transformation. 
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and gap analysis sessions.
  • Develop process models, user stories, use cases, and business requirement documentation.
  • Work closely with solution architects, delivery teams, and data analysts to ensure technical alignment with business needs.
  • Support change management and business readiness activities.
  • Provide input into functional test cases, program governance, and strategy roadmap. 

Required Skills and Experience

  • 15+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally within utilities or energy sector.
  • Experience working on programs involving smart grids, energy data platforms, or distributed generation.
  • Experience working on energy regulatory and market (e.g. AEMO, DNSP responsibilities).
  • Proven ability to work on complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working in Agile and hybrid project delivery environments. 

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, and modelling standards like BPMN.
  • Familiarity with consumer energy technologies (e.g. solar PV, batteries, EVs). 
  • Experience in programs related to data exchange, orchestration platforms, or network visibility/enablement.
  • Exposure to government or regulatory reporting requirements under energy reform initiatives.
