What will you be doing
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our Technology team to lead critical initiatives across our stockbroking platforms and digital infrastructure. Based in Sydney or Perth, you will bridge the gap between the business needs and technological solutions, ensuring that our stockbroking and financial systems align with strategic business goals.
In this role, you will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams to gather requirements, analyze data, optimize systems, and drive the development of advanced technology solutions, ensuring that complex financial and trading systems are aligned with strategic objectives, client needs, and regulatory requirements.
Day to day, the Senior Business Analyst will:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical delivery teams to define, gather, and document both business and technical requirements at high level for stock broking and trading systems
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including business cases, user stories, process flows, system specifications, and requirement traceability matrices
- Act as the liaison between business and technical teams, effectively communicating both business goals and technical constraints
- Engage with clients to understand their business needs and ensure that the delivered technology solutions meet their expectations
- Leverage your in-depth knowledge of stock broking, trading platforms, financial markets, and industry regulations (such as ASIC, ASX) to provide valuable business insights and recommendations
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and technology integration to enhance operational efficiency.
- Work closely with product managers, technical architects, and development teams to ensure that business requirements are clearly translated into functional system specifications
- Participate in the design, development, and deployment of trading platforms and financial solutions that meet both business needs and regulatory requirements
- Analyze existing stockbroking systems, identify areas for improvement, and utilize data analytics tools to provide actionable insights that optimize system performance and decision-making
- Provide input into technical testing strategies, ensuring that solutions are thoroughly tested and validated against business requirements
About you
This position is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of the financial markets, proven experience in technology-driven environments, and the ability to bridge business strategy with technical delivery. Strong project management skills and familiarity with the equities lifecycle are also recommended.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or a similar role in a financial services, stockbroking, capital markets or technology-driven environment is a must. Familiarity with financial markets, trading platforms, and financial products, particularly in stock broking, and systems like CHESS, IRESS, GBST is preferred.
