At Padstow Play N Learn (ASHREE SERVICES PTY LTD), the Room Leader plays a key role in leading the day-to-day operations of a designated learning space. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality educational programs that reflect the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and meet the standards set by the National Quality Standard (NQS). The Room Leader supports the service in upholding regulatory compliance while creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child can thrive.

– Salary: AU$  75,000.00 to 85,000.00 + superannuation


Task & responsibilities

We are seeking a qualified Room Leader who will be responsible for:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and reflection of play-based learning programs.
  • Ensure curriculum aligns with EYLF and supports children's individual needs and interests.
  • Monitor and evaluate children’s progress; document developmental milestones and learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Educational Leader to continuously improve learning strategies.
  • Support inclusive education practices and embed cultural competence in daily routines.
  • Act as the Responsible Person in charge when required.
  • Adhere to the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.
  • Ensure educator-to-child ratios, supervision practices, and duty of care obligations are met.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting responsibilities.
  • Promote the health and safety of children through hygiene practices, nutrition standards, and physical activity.
  • Maintain a child-safe environment in accordance with Child Safe Standards.
  • Oversee and record the administration of first aid, medication, incident reports, and risk assessments.
  • Mentor and support educators and students within the room.
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful team culture.
  • Lead room meetings and contribute to centre-wide staff development initiatives.
  • Participate in performance appraisals and assist in professional development planning.
  • Develop respectful, responsive relationships with families.
  • Facilitate open communication about children’s learning and wellbeing.
  • Encourage family involvement in the program and broader centre initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with local community organisations and support services.

Qualification & experience

The minimum requirements for the position are: 

  • A Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or a higher qualification).
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • At least 12 months of proven experience working with children aged 0–6 years in an early childhood education setting.
