About the Role:

 

In this Qualified Carpenter / Leading Hand position, you’ll be the go-to person on site, helping to lead our projects and keep things on track. You’ll swing the hammer alongside the team, help keep daily operations running smoothly, and make sure every job is finished with top-notch quality. From building a backyard deck that wows a client to coordinating an industrial project, you’ll be at the heart of it all. And with our projects spread across Melbourne (home base in the north-east suburbs), you won’t be stuck in one spot - you’ll get to work at different locations around the city.

 

Day-to-day, you will:

Work alongside and lead a small team of carpenters and apprentices to deliver quality workmanship on all projects.

Read and interpret plans, ensuring every cut and measurement is spot on.

Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers when needed, keeping the project running smoothly and on time.

Keep the worksite safe, organised, and efficient each day.

Lend a hand with the tools - this is a hands-on role, so you’ll still be on the tools doing what you love, just with a bit more responsibility.

 

About You:

 

You’re not just a gun on the tools - you’re also a natural leader and a top bloke or gal!. Our ideal new Leading Hand brings a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to the team. Here’s what were looking for:

Qualified Carpenter: You have your trade qualification and solid experience in carpentry. You know your stuff, from framing to finishing.

Leadership Skills: You’ve led small teams or mentored apprentices before. You can take charge on-site and keep the crew motivated and on track.

Reliable & Punctual: You show up on time, every time, and can be counted on to get the job done. (Your mates might even call you Old Reliable)

Team Player: You thrive working in a team and believe the best results come from working together. Plus, you enjoy a bit of banter and keep the mood light even when things get busy.

Takes Pride in Work: Whether it’s a house frame or a custom pergola, you build it like it’s your own. Quality craftsmanship and attention to detail are a matter of personal pride for you.

Tools & Wheels: You’ve got your own tools and a reliable vehicle to get you (and maybe some gear) to various sites around Melbourne. You’re ready to hit the ground running on day one.
