We’re looking for an experienced Butcher to prepare and cut quality meat products while maintaining food safety and providing excellent customer service. This full-time role requires strong knife skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team. Certificate III in Meat Processing and at least 2 years’ experience are essential.

Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare, cut, bone, trim, and slice a variety of meat products according to specifications and customer requirements
  • Operate butchery tools and machinery safely and efficiently, including knives, saws, and mincers
  • Maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness standards in the work area, adhering to food safety regulations and company policies
  • Manage stock levels by receiving deliveries, checking quality, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of meat products
  • Package and label meat products accurately for retail sale
  • Assist customers by providing product knowledge, advice, and recommendations where required
  • Comply with WHS guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
  • Collaborate with team members to meet daily production and sales targets
  • Maintain accurate records of waste and product usage to minimise losses
  • Perform regular cleaning and upkeep of butchery tools, equipment, and work areas to maintain hygiene standards
  • Keep up to date with food safety and industry best practices

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Meat Processing or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years full-time experience in a commercial butchery or meat processing role
  • Proven skills in boning, slicing, trimming, and portioning a range of meats
  • Competence in using knives and butchery equipment safely and efficiently
  • Sound knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and HACCP procedures
  • Valid Food Safety Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organised work environment
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Good physical fitness – ability to lift, stand for long periods, and work in cool environments
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and time management skills
  • Valid Australian work rights (citizen, permanent resident, or visa holder)
  • Visa sponsorship may be available for suitably qualified overseas applicants
