A fantastic opportunity exists to join the market leader for clutches in the Automotive Aftermarket.
EXEDY is the world's most progressive supplier of Passenger Car, Heavy Commercial, Agricultural and Racing and Sports Clutch components to the aftermarket and we are looking to appoint a Product Officer to join our Product Management team in Keysborough Victoria 3173 to assume control of a product category.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute category strategies that align with company goals (e.g., revenue growth, market share).
Identify gaps and opportunities within the auto parts category (e.g., brake systems, filters, batteries).
Forecast trends and plan product category based on market demand, vehicle data, and customer preferences.
Conduct market research to understand consumer needs, buying behaviour, and emerging technologies in the auto sector.
Benchmark against competitors to optimize pricing, assortment, and promotional strategies.
Select SKUs that meet quality, pricing, and customer satisfaction goals.
Define product positioning, features, and benefits for various customer segments (DIYers, mechanics).
Build and manage relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to maximize margins and availability.
Monitor supplier performance and ensure quality standards are met.
Plan and execute promotional campaigns in coordination with marketing and sales teams.
Track sales, profitability, inventory turnover, and stock levels across SKUs.
Collaborate with inventory planning and logistics teams to ensure product availability.
Manage stock levels to avoid overstock or stockouts, especially for seasonal or fast-moving parts.
Provision of technical advice to customer service staff and to customers directly as required.
Maintenance of catalogue databases Autoi and TecDoc (on the job training will be provided)
Work closely with marketing, sales, customer service, and operations.
The Candidate:
Automotive expertise – Familiarity with vehicle systems and broad understanding of automotive part function.
Office administration experience including intermediate level understanding of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel & Outlook
Must have some experience in a similar role within the automotive industry
Hands-on experience with car maintenance or repair (preferred but not essential).
Strong skills in data analysis (sales trends, inventory turns, pricing models).
Able to make strategic decisions based on numbers, not just intuition.
Proven ability to build and maintain a profitable product line.
Ability to build relationships with vendors/manufacturers.
Detail-oriented when managing vehicle fitment data, SKU details, and product specs, accuracy is crucial.
