As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for driving safe, sustainable, and cost-effective waste operations. Reporting to the State Manager and collaborating closely with the HSE and Operations teams, your focus will be on meeting performance goals, maximising efficiency, and ensuring service excellence.

Operational Leadership & Performance

Lead the ethical, timely, safe, and profitable delivery of waste services.

Analyse weekly KPIs, identify unfavourable trends, and implement specific corrective actions with clear accountability and timelines.

Conduct annual operational audits and route reviews (FEL, REL, RoRo).

Review and approve operational expenditure and contractor invoices.

Monitor and control operating costs, wages, and subcontractor performance to maximise profitability.

Develop and maintain daily operational statistics for internal reporting.

Strategic Planning & Business Development

Support the preparation of annual operating and Capex budgets.

Partner with the State Sales Manager to develop commercial proposals and secure new contracts.

Negotiate and secure cost-effective subcontractor and disposal agreements in conjunction with the Legal department.

Contribute to special projects as directed by the General Manager.

Systems & Compliance

Demonstrate proficiency in operational systems and data tools.

Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, including HSE, council licensing, and environmental law.

Uphold REMONDIS quality and safety standards across all operations and maintenance activities.

Team & Culture

Inspire high performance through exemplary leadership and professionalism.

Recruit, train, and evaluate employees in accordance with REMONDIS hiring standards.

Promote a safe and environmentally responsible culture in partnership with the State HSE Advisor.

Investigate complaints, accidents, and incidents, implementing corrective or disciplinary actions as required.

Skill Set & Experience Required 

Degree or relevant industry experience within the water or waste management sector 

Regulatory and quality compliance experience

Process and systems implementation experience
