We’re looking for an experienced and detail-driven Operations Assistant to join our Estimating team and help us deliver accurate, efficient, and compliant solar solutions for residential building projects.
As part of our Estimating Team, you’ll play a vital role in shaping solar designs, collaborating with builders, and ensuring smooth project execution from plan to install.
What You’ll Do:
Interpret and Analyse Building Plans
- Read and analyse residential building plans to develop accurate and compliant solar layouts
- Keep up-to-date with industry regulations and emerging solar tech
Adjust Plans for Real-World Application
- Refine solar plans to align with operational constraints and installation realities
- Aim for high accuracy to reduce the need for post-installation adjustments
Own Communication Flow
- Manage incoming quote and order requests, responding within 48 hours
- Build strong working relationships with builders’ estimating teams
- Track issue resolution times and maintain shared stakeholder lists
Keep Projects on Track
- Manage daily job schedules, anticipate issues, and keep stakeholders updated
Quote & Order Like a Pro
- Generate precise quotations and material orders (targeting <5% error rate)
- Ensure all pre-build materials are covered—no over-ordering, no waste
Process Sales Orders Efficiently
- Enter orders into Simpro within one business day
- Update job information, chase missing purchase order details, and maintain flow
- Provide end-of-day reports on order tracking and quality
Be a Team Player
- Support colleagues to meet team targets
- Share insights and collaborate to continuously improve processes
What You Bring Skills & Experience
- Ability to learn read and interpret building and technical plans
- Experience in estimating (solar/construction industry ideal)
- Proficiency with quoting, material ordering, and using Simpro
- Bonus points for Adobe suite skills!
Communication & Organisation
- Clear, professional communication—written and verbal
- Time management wizardry and sharp attention to detail
- Confident liaising with multiple stakeholders
