About the Role 

South32 together with WorkPac are commencing recruitment for Permanent New to Industry Haul Truck Operators to promote the equality of its workforce at Groote Eylandt Mining Company (GEMCO). Successful candidates will be FIFO (Fly In Fly Out) from Cairns.

Selected candidates will need to be available to attend an initial Assessment Centre in Cairns on 13th May.

What you will be doing: 

• Committed to a safe and positive onsite culture

• As a member of the GEMCO mining team, you will be fully trained as a Single Skilled Operator on CAT 777 and 785 Haul Trucks.

• You will work 12.25hr shifts on a 7/7 roster (7 on, 7 off) rotating Day/Night shifts and be committed to ongoing, secure employment

• Meet targets to safely produce Manganese product for GEMCO's valued customers

What you will need: 

• Although no prior operating experience is required, you will need to provide evidence of the below: 

• A residential address within 1hr of Cairns

• A strong work history demonstrating a commitment to a current or previous employer  

• A team player with a positive attitude towards safety processes and procedures 

• Effective communication skills  

• A current Open Class Drivers Licence (manual) 

• The ability to undertake a Pre-Employment Medical including Drug and Alcohol screening 

• Excellent attendance record
