Are you ready to command the nerve centre of Australia’s most advanced motion capture facility?
We’re not just capturing movement; we're pioneering a new era of live, unscripted virtual performances that blur the line between digital and physical. As our Motion Capture Supervisor, you'll be the maestro of our cutting-edge studio, where every gesture, expression, and motion fuels a 24/7 broadcast revolution.
What will you do?
- Maintain and optimise motion capture systems, studio gear, and tracked assets to ensure accurate and efficient production readiness.
- Brief, train, and support both performers and technicians, emphasising best practices for real-time capture, asset preparation, troubleshooting, and system calibration.
- Operate, calibrate, and monitor motion capture systems so that they can function in a 24/7 production environment, swiftly addressing issues to maintain minimal downtime.
- Process and retarget real-time data onto virtual characters and assets, in some cases creating customised motion capture skeletons optimised for accurate solving.
- Develop and update clear training and operations documentation for technicians, performers and supervisors.
- Test, verify, and implement hardware/software updates
- Work with various departments to assist in the design of customised tracking solutions and equipment.
What are we looking for?
- 5+ years of experience as a Motion Capture Technician, with at least 3 years on-set experience.
- In-depth experience with real-time motion capture with a strong focus on accuracy including precise tracking of performers, cinema cameras and rigid body assets; aligning virtual cameras and virtual characters to match their real-world counterparts perfectly
- Extensive experience operating optical motion capture systems - OptiTrack preferred but not essential
- Skilled in motion capture data cleanup, retargeting, and biped animation workflows.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Strong technical, mathematical, and 3D problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, organised, and capable of prioritising tasks effectively.
- Comfortable interacting professionally with performers and production teams.
What additional skills will help you standout?
- Experience operating other motion capture systems: Vicon, Giant, Motion Analysis, Qualisys, Xsens
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, MEL, C++)
- Proficiency in animation software, (MotionBuilder, Maya, LiveLink).
