About Us: Are you ready to join a large manufacturing business that is going from strength to strength? Based in Somersby, our client is a leading manufacturer dedicated to delivering unparalleled products and services. We are currently seeking two skilled and dedicated Fitters to join their dynamic team: an Afternoon Fitter and a Line Setting Fitter.


Position Overview: We have two distinct and vital opportunities available:

  • Afternoon Fitter: You will play a crucial role in ensuring the continuous operation and reliability of plant and equipment during the afternoon shift. Your expertise will be key in performing reactive maintenance, diagnosing breakdowns, conducting timely repairs, and contributing to preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Line Setting Fitter: This position focuses on the critical preparation and setup of production lines. You will be responsible for efficient machine setup, changeovers between different products, fine-tuning equipment for optimal performance, and ensuring lines are ready to meet production targets accurately and safely.

Responsibilities:

  • Afternoon Fitter: Primarily focus on troubleshooting, diagnosing faults, and performing repairs on machinery during the afternoon shift. Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production impact. Conduct planned preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled.
  • Line Setting Fitter: Primarily focus on setting up production lines according to specifications, including tooling changes, adjustments, and calibration. Ensure equipment is ready for production runs and perform test runs as needed. Troubleshoot issues related to line setup and changeovers.
  • (Both Roles): Collaborate effectively with production staff, supervisors, and other maintenance team members for plant-wide efficiency. Uphold meticulous records of maintenance work, setups, and repairs performed. Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures.

Requirements (for both roles):

  • Accredited trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of complex production machinery, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
