Task & responsibilities
As an accountant, you will perform job duties such as
- Prepare and review monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including invoicing, payments and revenue recording
- Complete journal entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Develop monthly forecasts and rolling annual budgets
- Analyse financial trends and identify risks and cost-saving opportunities
- Examining operating costs, analysing income and expenditure, and identifying areas for cost reduction
- Provide detailed financial insights to support business planning and strategic decisions
- Tracking financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement, and providing recommendations
- Ensure compliance with ATO, ASIC and other regulatory bodies
- Liaise with auditors, tax agents and legal counsel as required
- Collaborate with management to provide financial analysis support and decision-making advice
Qualification & experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in accounting or related field
- Proven 1-2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a healthcare or dental environment
- Sound knowledge of Australian taxation laws, financial compliance and reporting standards
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and systems
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
- Familiar with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks or similar accounting systems and strong Excel skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
