Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain a variety of locking systems, including mechanical, electronic, and high-security locks.
• Design, cut, and duplicate keys for residential, commercial, and automotive needs.
• Assess security requirements and recommend appropriate locking and security systems to clients.
• Respond to emergency lockout situations, providing quick and professional solutions.
• Program and reprogram electronic locking systems and keyless entry systems.
• Conduct regular inspections of locking mechanisms and identify areas requiring upgrades or repairs.
• Stay updated with the latest security products and technologies in the industry.
• Provide training to clients on the correct use and maintenance of installed locking systems.
• Ensure compliance with Australian safety standards and regulations during all tasks.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Locksmithing or an equivalent qualification in a related field.
• Trade certification or formal training in locksmithing from a recognized institution.
• Completion of relevant apprenticeships or vocational training programs.
• Specialized training in electronic and digital locking systems, including keyless entry and access control systems.
• Current security licenses (if applicable by state regulations).

Relevant Experience

• A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a locksmith or in a related trade.
• Demonstrated experience in installing and maintaining a wide range of locking systems, from traditional mechanical locks to advanced electronic security solutions.
• Proven ability to work in high-pressure situations, such as responding to emergency lockout calls.
• Experience with safes, vaults, and high-security locking systems for commercial applications.
• Practical experience in recommending and implementing security solutions tailored to client needs.
• Experience in working on large-scale projects, such as setting up master key systems for multi-level buildings or facilities.
• Familiarity with working across varied environments, including residential homes, offices, retail locations, and industrial facilities.

Relevant Skills

• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electronic, and digital locking systems.
• Expertise in cutting and duplicating keys, including master key systems.
• Ability to program and configure electronic locks and security systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills for emergency lockout situations and complex security issues.
• Familiarity with industry tools such as key-cutting machines, lock-picking sets, and electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of Australian safety and security standards for locksmithing.
• Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to clients.
• Attention to detail for precise installations, repairs, and inspections.
• Capacity to work independently and in diverse environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
