About the Opportunity

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced L&D professional to contribute their expertise to the ODPP Vision of providing a highly skilled and professional prosecution service committed to achieving justice for the people of South Australia.
This specialist role will work closely with senior prosecution staff and provide high-level knowledge, consultancy and advice to lead the development of a L&D framework which strengthens the capability of ODPP staff to deliver effective prosecution services.
About the Role The primary purpose of the L&D Specialist is to develop and deliver key L&D services to the ODPP that directly contribute to the effectiveness of the prosecutors and prosecution services. This newly created role will initially focus on the consolidation and review of existing L&D systems and frameworks within the ODPP. Through sound planning and decision making, strategic thinking and strong interpersonal skills, the L&D Specialist will initiate, develop, implement and review office-wide L&D strategies, projects, programs and policies to contribute to the development of capability linked to strategic objectives, organisational need and legislative requirements.

The role will also include the initial development of a structured program for more junior legal staff that leverages innovative and suitable learning solutions to develop practical legal advocacy skills. Once primary processes have been implemented, the role will evaluate further requirements on a broader basis and establish planning for further development of a holistic L&D framework for all ODPP staff which addresses core capabilities at each classification level and specific areas of skill development.

• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead the innovative design and delivery of L&D initiatives for professional staff, including communicating complex ideas and concepts to senior management.
• A proven ability to establish and develop effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including senior professional colleagues.
• Demonstrated ability to adjust work focus to meet changing priorities and deadlines without compromising on quality.
• Demonstrated ability to operate within broad policy guidelines and exercise significant levels of independent professional judgement
