About the role:

As a member of the Laboratory Team, the Laboratory Assistant will provide assistance in a range of technical tasks under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Research and Hub Manager and/or Clinical Trials Manager that support Fusion to conduct its clinical studies to a high standard of quality as required by relevant SOPs, regulations and guidelines.

The Laboratory Assistant will achieve effective outcomes as follows:

  • Assist in the collection, documenting, storing and shipping of biological samples from the clinical areas in readiness for appropriate processing;

  • Assist in performing and documenting laboratory equipment maintenance activities as required by the Clinical Research and Hub Manager and/or Clinical Trials Manager;

  • Undertake routine tasks to maintain laboratory areas in a clean, tidy and professional manner as directed;

  • Provide assistance to the Clinical Research and Hub Manager, Clinical Trials Manager, Clinical Research Team Leads, Clinical Research Coordinators or Clinical Research Officers as directed when study specific set up tasks are being conducted;

  • Monitor general laboratory and/or study specific supplies and advise relevant staff of low supplies or those nearing expiration;

  • Assist in maintaining own health and safety and the health and safety of other laboratory staff members.

About you:

  • IATA certificate would be advantageous but not essential;

  • Demonstrated competence in general laboratory practices and biological sample handling;

  • Ability to work as a member of a small team committed to achieving high quality outcomes for internal and external customers;

  • Sound interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication skills and the ability to operate in a cooperative and professional manner;

  • Proven ability to follow specific instructions and routines and work within rigorous standards, protocols and regulations and apply high attention to accuracy and detail;

  • Demonstrated understanding of GLP principles;

  • Ability to provide general support and assistance to other less experienced team members in a constructive and positive manner.
