Job Description As an experienced IBM WebSphere Professional Services Consultant you will lead the migration of WebSphere Application Server (WAS Traditional) from AIX 7.1 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v8.2. This is a critical role for ensuring a seamless transition while optimizing performance, security, high availability and reliability. You will lead the end-to-end migration of WebSphere Application Server (WAS) from AIX to RHEL, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.Assess current WebSphere infrastructure, applications and dependencies to develop a detailed migration strategy. Identify all WebSphere instances, profiles, nodes, applications and dependencies and document configurations, security settings and integration points. You willVerify WebSphere version compatibility with RHEL,Check application dependencies on OS-specific libraries.Measure current application performance on AIX to set a baseline through to taking full backups of WebSphere configurations, applications, and databases. Implement high availability and disaster recovery for WebSphere through clustering, load balancing and session replication strategies to ensure continuous service availability. Moreover, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including application developers, system administrators, and DevOps engineers, to ensure compatibility and performance post-migration.Help plan and execute cutover to new WebSphere instances including ensuring rollback plans are in place. Support the running of functional tests to ensure applications behave as expected. On a daily basis, perform load testing to compare with pre-migration benchmarks.Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues, including configurations, networking and security.Implement monitoring, automation, and performance tuning to optimize the WebSphere environment on RHEL. Also, collaborate with Java development teams to optimize applications running on WebSphere, ensuring compatibility and performance improvements post-migration. Qualifications About You: Significant years of experience working with IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS), including installation, configuration and administration. Hands-on experience with WebSphere migrations, particularly from AIX to RHELand a proven track record of executing enterprise-level migrations. Expertise in Linux (RHEL) and AIX, including command-line operations, scripting and system administration. Experience implementing and managing WebSphere in high availability environments, including clustering, load balancing, and failover mechanisms. Proficiency in Java/J2EE applications, troubleshooting, and performance tuning within a WebSphere environment. Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform for deployment and configuration management. Understanding of middleware, networking and security considerations for enterprise applications. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or within a team. Strong communication skills to interact with stakeholders, document processes and present recommendations.
