The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial dispute resolution service. We proudly provide Victorian energy and water consumers with free, accessible, and informal dispute resolution. Find out more about who we are and what we do here.  

Your new role and team 

The Technology, Analytics, and Business Improvement team (TABI) is dedicated to strategic and operational management of EWOV’s ICT, data, and business improvement services, delivering reliable, secure, and effective technical services.   

As the Head of Data and AI at EWOV, you will lead the organisation's data strategy, ensuring that data is leveraged effectively to enhance decision-making, optimize operations, and improve service delivery. This role involves overseeing data governance, information management, architecture, analytics, AI initiatives, and reporting functions to support EWOV's mission of delivering high-quality dispute resolution services.

What you’ll bring  

To help you succeed in this role you’ll need to bring: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.  

  • Successful experience in a senior data management role.  

  • Experience in leading and developing high-performing teams.  

  • Experience in data governance, information management, architecture, analytics, AI and reporting tools.  

  • Experience in AI, machine learning, or automation technologies.  

  • Expertise in designing and implementing complex data models and warehouses, with a strong grasp of normalization, star schema and data mart techniques.  

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute data strategies that drive organisational success.  

  • Proven ability with relevant technologies and platforms for data management, business intelligence and data engineering, science and analytics (including DBT, Snowflake and Power BI).  

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.  

  • Capacity to determine workloads, set priorities, work under pressure and complete tasks within specified timeframe.  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
