Cappercullen Construction Pty Ltd is a construction company based in Sydney. We have recently been awarded several new projects and need to recruit an experienced carpenter who will work on various construction sites to construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, steel and other materials. To cut, shape and fit timber and other material parts to form structures and fittings, using hand tools and power tools as required. Formwork carpenters working with our company must be familiar with the following formwork systems: conventional formwork and
peri and doka formwork.

facilities and materials

Key Responsibilities:
• Study drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and the materials required for the
projects. A knowledge and ability to read plans and drawings to determine the proper
dimensions, shape and design of a form structures
• Prepare layouts and follow the direction of the surveyor mark outs and mark and line out
formwork
• Construct formwork and shutters to retain the pouring of concrete in foundations and other
concrete structures
• Shape and cut materials to specified measurements as per the drawings
• Assemble and nail cut and shaped materials
• Erect framework and props using hand tools, nails and other equipment
• Assembling prepared timber and ply to form structures and fittings ready to install
• Building timber roof decks for upper-level concrete placement
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe working environment for
you and others
• Liaise with other team members by providing information to site foremen, co-workers and
other trades people involved onsite
• General carpentry tasks
• Concrete formwork, building forms to retain wet concrete
• Build concrete forms
• Erect framework, construct, erect, install, renovate and repair structures and fixtures of wood,
plywood, wallboard and other materials
• Order and select timbers and materials.
• Cut materials with hand and power tools and assemble or nail cut and prepared formwork.
• Erect framework, lay sub flooring and verify trueness of structures.
• Examine and remove parts of existing structures, do minor preparatory work and install
building supports. Form, erect, pour and strip timber
• Erect & dismantle formwork to suspended slabs, columns, beams & walls
• Construct bulk heads
• Reviewing plans and creating a job order for materials required and placing an order for
delivery
• Constructing eaves, ceiling frames and wall frames
• Erecting and dismantling scaffolding
Other Elements of the Role
• Lifting /handling awkward loads eg long pieces of timber
• Climbing stairs and ladders
• Exposure to noise
• Exposure to weather
• Use hand tools, e.g. hammers, chisels, handsaws, screwdrivers, measuring tapes and leveling devices etc.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
Certificate 3 in carpentry or equivalent and 2 years’ experience performing the
skills outlined in the position description above.
We are committed to employing local workers. Ideally, we would like to recruit an Australian or an Eligible New Zealand carpenter for this position.
The successful candidate will be required to work at least 38 hours a week (full-time). You will work at various sites around Sydney as instructed by management. You will report to our head office in Matraville, 2036. You may be required to work overtime during the week and occasional Saturdays and Sundays. Most of our projects are of commercial nature and you will be working outdoors. The carpenter will be offered an annual salary of $83,000.00 plus superannuation per year.
