St Elizabeth Home are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Food Services / Cook’s Assistant to assist in the preparation of a variety of nutritious meals for our residents on a fulltime basis within our facility in Dean Park, NSW.

Tasks & responsibilities

This role will entail two key responsibilities (1) assisting kitchen and service staff in preparing and serving food and (2) the cleanliness and sanitisation of the food preparation and service areas and the
 

Responsibilities:


• Ensure food preparation areas, dining and kitchen facilities are prepared, clean, tidy and sanitised as per requirements.
• Ensure all cooking utensils and equipment are cleaned and sanitised to required standards.
• Removal of, and washing up, dinnerware and trays after each sitting.
• Assembling and preparing ingredients for cooking and plating.
• Complete documentation as required by both facility and legislative standards.
• Ensure appropriate set-up of dining room.
• Service of both morning and afternoon teas to the residents.
• Cooking, toasting and heating simple food items.
• Removing cooked food from ovens and warmers as per the Cook’s instructions.
• Assisting the Cooks with the preparation of nutritious meals for the residents.
• Assisting the cooks with the management of supplies and ingredients.
• Perform other duties as nominated by the Cooks, Catering Service Supervisor, Care Manager and Hospitality Services Manager.


Qualifications & experience

Skills & Experience:


We are seeking individuals with the following qualifications, experience and attributes:


• A relevant AQF Cert I or compulsory secondary education.
• Experience in an Aged Care environment preferred but not essential.
• National Police Clearance and Banning Order Clearance.
• A current Food Handlers Certificate.
• Knowledge of Food Safety Programs and HACCP (including IDDSI Framework).
• Ability to converse in Hungarian would be advantageous due to the cultural and linguistic requirements of the residents.
• Respectful, caring and empathetic nature.
• Ability to work independently and contribute as a valued member of the team.
• Physically fit for the inherent requirements of the role.
• Ability to work varied hours as required.
• Great attitude!
