About the Role

Reporting to the Queensland Fleet Maintenance Manager, this is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee day-to-day operations of our workshop in Swanbank, QLD. You will also support our road surfacing operations across South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. You’ll manage workload distribution, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. 

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of mechanics, technicians and support staff
  • Ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance, servicing and repairs of fleet assets
  • Drive a strong Zero Harm and compliance culture in all workshop activities
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, operational managers and project teams
  • Monitor performance and implement continuous improvement strategies
  • Manage workshop budgets, work plans and resource allocations
  • Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance, including record-keeping and audits

What you’ll bring

  • A trade qualification (Diesel Mechanic or Fitter) or similar
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing a workshop or fleet maintenance team
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Proven planning, coordination and problem-solving skills
  • Computer literacy and experience using Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of asset management systems and best practices (desirable)
