Task & responsibilities
- Ensure that ready-mixed wet batched concrete is properly checked and slumped before each load departs, and that it is maintained at the correct slump during transit to preserve quality.
- Monitor and manage fleet expenses, including fuel, maintenance, and repairs, to reduce costs while maintaining safety and service quality.
- Liaising with clients to determine requirements and providing customers with advice and information regarding vehicle type, purchase or hire rates and obligations and handling complaints
- Ensure Delivery of ready mixed concrete goods according to customer specifications across the Sydney region, and ensure all loads comply with chain of responsibility (C.O.R) road laws and do not exceed legal weight limits.
- Maintain WHS processes and systems providing training and information regarding drugs and alcohol use, fitness for work and record keeping Arranging collection and delivery of vehicles and goods
- Oversee and improve all aspects of ready-mixed concrete transport, including route planning, vehicle selection, fleet scheduling, and daily scheduling
- Maintaining business records and preparing operational statements and reports
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Oversee the hiring and training of drivers
- Manage driver rosters and optimise delivery routes to ensure efficient operations and on-time delivery of ready-mixed concrete.
- Track orders using functional systems (e.g. tracking software)
- Prepare budgets, track expenditures, and report fleet performance to senior management.
- Report on maintenance and repair needs for vehicles and equipment
- Research and suggest on cost-effective methods
- Use KPIs to assess operations, generate performance reports, and recommend improvements.
- Ensure each ready mixed concrete load is properly checked and slumped before departure and maintained at the correct specification slump during transit to preserve quality.
- Organise training sessions for employees
- Keep organised records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety procedures
- Stay up to date with safety regulations, the latest technologies and trends in transport industry.
- Coordinate with drivers to ensure vehicles are available at the right locations for servicing, repairs, and scheduled starts.
- Support long-term strategies for fleet optimisation, sustainability, and growth, including the use of green technologies and fleet management software for real-time tracking and efficiency
Qualification & experience
- Diploma or Bachelors in Management
- Proven work experience as a Fleet Manager, Transportation Manager, or similar role
- Solid knowledge of supply and fleet management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
