Position Overview

We are currently seeking a full-time Fitter (General) to join our dynamic operations team. The role is full time involving night shift and day shift roasters.  This role is essential to the maintenance, fitting, and assembly of mechanical components across various production and plant equipment. The successful applicant will bring hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and contribute to team-based workshop processes.

Task & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Fit and assemble mechanical parts, sub-assemblies, and machinery using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine fitting requirements.
  • Inspect and diagnose mechanical systems and carry out repairs, replacements, or adjustments.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on fixed plant, mobile machinery, and hydraulic systems.
  • Assist in minor welding or fabrication tasks to support assembly and maintenance workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all workshop tasks.
  • Liaise with engineers and supervisors to optimise performance and reliability of equipment.
  • Additionally working on plant equipment

Qualification & experience

Essential Criteria – Skills required. 

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant full-time experience (or 3+ years without formal qualification).
  • Demonstrated experience working with mechanical components, mobile plant, or industrial machinery.
  • Competence in fault diagnosis, mechanical servicing, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical schematics.
  • Basic welding or fabrication experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality assurance standards.
