The Opportunity

We have a prestigious and challenging opportunity for a highly driven professional Executive Officer (EO) to join the Office of the CEO. Partnering with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to set and deliver the CEO’s strategic focus and direction for Council, you will work directly with the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to achieve Council’s goals.

Your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders is vital to the success of this role. As the EO, and a true extension of the CEO’s brand, you will help resolve significant issues drawing on expert advice from across Council in support to the CEO. The role also involves being an advocate and representing the CEO’s interests at all times, including in steering committees, meetings and forums. Additionally, you will manage the Office of the CEO team on a daily basis, providing direction to the team while driving continuous improvement to create an efficient and supportive workplace.

About You

We are looking for a true strategic thought partner (and fit) to the CEO who supports organising and aligning strategic priorities with our ELT, ensuring our executive team is focussing on the right things at the right time, keeping our strategic plan and our people at the centre of all our planning and decision making.

You will be results driven and able to meet challenges with tenacity. With your strategic mindset, including analytical and structured thinking, you will understand our business operations and become a trusted advisor.

It is key that you can deal appropriately with confidential information and governance matters in a political sensitive environment and that you are personable and enjoy building and maintaining great working relationships across a diverse stakeholder group.

You will be confident enough to lead and influence, but humble enough to do the hard yards behind the scenes. This includes research, analytics and writing comprehensive briefings and reports.

Preferably you have a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Business or similar) and have the ability to connect the dots in ways others cannot. If this role appeals to you, this could be an incredible opportunity for you, for RCC and for our community.
