About the role
The position of Electrical Fitter - Traction is responsible for overhauling electrical rotating machines, locomotive traction motors and alternators as well as fault finding & testing all types of electrical rotating machines.
Specific responsibilities
- Overhauling electrical rotating machines.
- Overhauling medium to large AC/DC drive motors.
- Overhauling AC/DC traction motors locomotive and OHV.
- Overhauling traction alternators locomotive and OHV.
- Fault finding and testing all types of electrical rotating machines.
- Combo and Traction wheelset overhauls.
About you
- Sound mechanical and electrical experience.
- Ability to work unsupervised and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to fault find and utilize trouble shooting skills.
- Proven ability to organize and prioritise takes, be flexible and resourceful, proactive and professional in manner with a high degree of initiative.
- Ability and willingness to further your knowledge and skills with additional training.
- Able to work shifts and overtime as required.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills and experience
- Electrical Licence
- Trade qualifications (Electrical or suitably related disciplines).
- Previous experience working within a heavy maintenance/ asset management environment preferred but not essential.
- Certified competency with high risk work (Dogging, Crane & Forklift) would be advantageous but not essential.
- Rewinding experience would be highly regarded.
- Experience with dynamic balancing.
