We are seeking a Director, Major Research Initiatives to join Office of the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research), Academic Division. The Office of Research Services at QUT is looking for an experienced and adaptable Director, Major Research Initiatives to set strategy and provide high quality support aimed at increasing the University's engagement and success in major programmatic initiatives. QUT's Office of Research Services (ORS) works with QUT staff, students, collaborators, and partners to identify, attract and manage funding from competitive, programmatic and commercial sources. The Office also manages post-award establishment of projects and supports the University’s research management platforms and coordinates internal and external research reporting.. What You Need To Succeed Completion of a postgraduate degree in relevant discipline together with extensive experience in the management and administration of contracts for commercial researchanddevelopment,consultancyor cooperative research centres or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training. Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships across organisational units aroundtheimplementationofkeyresearch initiatives which comprise complex policy, funding and operational aspects. Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to establish positive working relationships with external organisations and managers and employeesfromdiversebackgroundsand disciplines, in the achievement of organisational goals and priorities. Demonstratedcommitmenttoqualityclient service, and the ability to implement continuous improvement strategies in complex, cross-discipline activities. Extensive knowledge of contractual and intellectualpropertyissuesandtheability to make judgements about legal/contractual/commercial issues affecting QUT’s interests in relation to large scale research initiatives. Understanding of University and industry researchanddevelopmentprocessesand theinnovation/commercialisation Knowledge of research granting bodiesand the mechanics of their operation, and in particular knowledge of the CommonwealthGovernment’sCooperative Research Centres Program, ARC Centreof Excellence, Industrial Transformation and ARC LIEF schemes, MRFF Schemes and the Queensland Government’s Advance Queensland schemes.
