The Cost Controller is responsible for cost and budget management. The role primarily provides analysis of project and staff costs to various stakeholders.

  • provide cost control follow up including analyzing and explaining main variances, performing spot analysis on specific activities to understand costs incurred, updating project forecast result
  • forecast expenditures and assist in quarterly and year-end closing by providing accruals related to project and staff costs
  • plan and prepare budgets and provide analysis and explanation on significant deviation of actual costs and forecasted financial figures;
  • manage change events that impact the budget
  • verify financial documents, classify costs by type, allocating costs to cost centers, and cost reconciliation 
  • tracking man-hours allocated to a project and following up on relevant timesheet input
  • perform periodic assessment of chargeable costs and expenditures
  • implement, administer and maintain cost control system and procedures to track budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts 
  • calculate operating fixed and variables costs, and performs a variance analysis
  • preparation and review of cost estimates
  • provide timely and accurate cost reports
  • provide cost information to support decision and alternative selection
  • develop reporting tracking tools and generates cost reports on regular basis
  • extract data from several sources, transforming it to fit operational needs
  • reconcile data to support complete accuracy and creates a clean audit trail
  • develop a good understanding of the accounting and reporting system and its interfaces

Qualification & experience

A relevant qualification in finance or accounting or similar professional qualification

Advanced accounting skills and knowledge in local taxation

Experience in working with budgets and forecasts

Exceptionally well organized with an aptitude for data efficiency, problem analysis-solving and resourcefulness

Strong presentation skills, able to explain concepts concisely and accurately

Creative thinking skills and ability to solve problems

Good communication, teamwork and collaboration skills

Accuracy and attention to detail
