Bistro Cook - Cally Hotel Warrnambool

The role is as a cook in a busy kitchen, reporting to the Head Chef and reporting indirectly to the Second Chef. You will be responsible for the hands-on aspects of food preparation and service. This is a role that would suit a cook with aspirations to working at chef level.

Task & responsibilities

• Assisting senior kitchen staff in menu planning
• Estimating, monitoring, ordering, and managing stock of supplies
• Monitoring and checking the qualify of ingredients
• Preparing ingredients ready for service
• Preparing meals to order with kitchen team
• Monitoring quality and presentation of dishes
• Mentoring and training kitchen staff as required
• Working under the instruction of the Head Chef
• Liaison with front of house staff during service
• Ensuring hygiene in accordance with regulations and best practice

Qualification & experience

•    Qualified as cook or chef

•    Must have, or be prepared to attain, Safe Food Handling Certificate 

•    Minimum of 3 years industry-based experience
