ScopeWe are seeking a Senior Contract/Commercial Manager with deep expertise in NEC4 contracts to join our infrastructure delivery team in Sydney. You will provide strategic commercial leadership and contractual governance for major water and wastewater projects, ensuring compliance, cost control, and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:Lead contract and commercial management across multiple large-scale water treatment and infrastructure projects governed by NEC4 contracts.Provide expert advice on contractual matters, including contract drafting, change control, early warning notices, risk allocation, and compensation events.Collaborate with legal, procurement, project controls, and delivery teams to ensure accurate interpretation and administration of NEC4 terms.Monitor project financial performance, including forecasting, cost reporting, claims management, and cash flow analysis.Drive the preparation and negotiation of subcontractor and supplier agreements in line with head contract obligations.Support dispute resolution and lead negotiations with clients and supply chain partners.Implement commercial best practices, governance procedures, and cost assurance processes.Mentor and guide junior commercial staff, fostering capability growth within the team.
Key Requirements:Minimum 10+ years of contract/commercial management experience in major infrastructure or utility projects, preferably water/wastewater.In-depth knowledge and proven experience managing NEC4 contracts. NEC4 Contract Management certification or demonstrable hands-on NEC4 experience.Bachelor’s degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.Experience working in client-side or EPCM environments highly regarded.Member of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIArb, AACE) is an advantage.Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and analytical skills.Proficiency in contract management systems and commercial reporting tools.Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
