We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and qualified Community Support Worker to join our team at NurseAid. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering person-centred, holistic care to individuals within residential and community settings. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will support participants in their recovery journey by promoting independence, enhancing well-being, and empowering them to lead meaningful lives.

Task & responsibilities

  • Assessing clients' needs and planning, developing, and implementing educational, training and support programs
  • Interviewing clients and assessing the nature and extent of difficulties
  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress of clients
  • Referring clients to agencies that can provide additional help
  • Assessing community need and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment, training and other facilities and services
  • Liaising with community groups, welfare agencies, government bodies and private businesses about community issues and promoting awareness of community resources and services
  • Supporting families and providing education and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and government institutions
  • Assisting people to solve social, emotional and financial problems
  • Preparing submissions for funding and resources, and reports to government bodies and other agencies

Qualification & experience

  • High degree of empathy and motivation to contribute to our participant's recovery journey.
  • Diploma or higher in Community Services, Social Work, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of previous work experience in a community support or related role.
  • A sincere commitment to supporting individuals facing mental health challenges.
  • Experience in residential care or community settings is highly desirable. 
  • Valid Working with Vulnerable People clearance, National Criminal History Check, First Aid and CPR certification, Covid-19 Vaccination, and COVID-19 Infection Control Module.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities, the elderly, or those facing social disadvantages.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing and email
  • Valid full Australian driver’s license and own comprehensively insured vehicle.
