About the role:

Quat Quatta is seeking an experienced and capable Commis Chef/Cook. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that dishes are prepared and presented according to the Head chef's standards, maintaining quality and consistency. Commis Chef works under the supervision of Chef De Partie and other senior chefs to perform cooking, baking, or butchering duties.

Task & responsibilities

  • Continually develops culinary knowledge to produce high-quality meals
  • Prepare diverse dishes for various occasions 
  • Measures, mixes, and prepares meal ingredients, sauces, and seasonings
  • Preparing basic salads and sauces as directed by the Chef de Partie
  • Washes, chops, and cuts fruit, meat, and vegetable items
  • Assesses inventory and requests and advises management accordingly when resupply necessary
  • Plates meal items under supervision
  • Disposes of spoiled items and adheres to sanitation policies for chilling, reheating, and food holding.
  • Monitors kitchen equipment and reports issues to superiors
  • Keep and report a waste log to supervisors on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Assess outlets upon arrival and departure, addressing safety or equipment issues promptly.
  • Confirm cleanliness, proper disposal of food, and correct storage and labelling before leaving outlets.
  • Uphold food standards in all operations.
  • Communicate and follow through with relevant departments to rectify sanitation or equipment issues.
  • Observe proper rotation, storage temperatures, and storage procedures.

Qualification & experience

  • Relevant qualifications, preferably Diploma or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery 
  • Minimum 1 years of work experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Good understanding of food, health, and safety regulations 
  • Capacity to follow instructions and operate effectively with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented mindset and readiness to collaborate within a diverse team
  • Dedication and enthusiasm for delivering top-tier service, consistently prioritising guest satisfaction
  • Excellent attention to details and accuracy when carrying out duties
  • Strict adherence to stock rotation protocols and minimizing wastage
  • Proficiency in sustaining a clean, hygienic, and secure work environment
