About the opportunity

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Learning Team at Werribee Mercy Hospital for an experienced Clinical Midwifery Educator.  This is a permanent position. 

  • The Clinical Midwifery Educator will work collaboratively with the Director and Assistant Directors of Nursing and Midwifery Education and clinical support, to support clinical education and training programs. 

  • The Learning Team is dedicated education team that provides support to the organisation over a wide range of education and development services, including but not limited to, in-service education, development and delivery of training programs, competency assessments, supervision of student placements and staff development education.

  • We are seeking applications from experienced and enthusiastic midwives  with a passion for learning and development to work collaboratively in providing high-quality learning opportunities.  A midwife who has demonstrated ability in leading education in the implementation a various models of midwifery care and is able to work across the continuum of care.

The Clinical Midwifery Educator;

  • Supports contemporary education that promotes best practice standards.

  • Supports staff of all proficiency levels, novice to expert

  • Demonstratesand promotes expertise and best practice standards

  • Helps to ensure that through a highly skilled and educated workforce our patients receive safe and high-quality care within Mercy Health

  • Demonstrates agility and work as a change agent

To thrive in this role, you will have:

  • Registration as a Midwife with AHPRA

  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills

  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.

  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

  • Knowledge of contemporary midwifery issues

  • You demonstrate innovative approaches to problem solving

  • Recent clinical experience across the peri partum period

  • Relevant post registration qualifications and experience

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
