About the Role

This role would be ideally suited to someone who can assist in civil engineering research, design, construction, operations and maintenance. We are seeking someone with experience in the building industry who has extensive knowledge of house frames, trusses and roofing and common building codes and practices – enabling them to quote/draw plans.

Responsibilities:

  1. Detailing of House Roofs and Commercial Projects in AppliCAD Software.
  2. Creating accurate CAD drawings from hand sketches, engineered plans, verbal instructions, and site visits. 
  3. Seamlessly integrating and working with management, builders, project managers design consultants, and sub-contractors, to produce and alter drawings.
  4. Thinking creatively and critically to support the project/sales team in the design process, to create accurate steel framing constructions. 
  5. Creating and continually updating project drawings lists. 
  6. Printing various formats of drawing sets for project managers and site managers.
  7. Systematically saving sketches and drawings on our CAD server; keeping the server organized; updating project folders and files as jobs progress and revisions are made.
  8. Reviewing and checking sketches and drawings for errors, before being sent to architects, subcontractors, project managers, etc. 
  9. Seeking clarity and understanding from engineers and project managers when you are not 100% certain of something.
  10. Organizing and uploading drawings to web-based storage sites/collaboration project sites to share drawings with project and subcontractors. 
  11. Create, edit, and update standard details for use in projects.

Skills / Abilities 

  1. Must hold a qualification in Civil Engineering
  2. Further studies to advance skills are an advantage
  3. Extensive knowledge of house frames, trusses and roofing
  4. Knowledge of common Australian Building Codes and practices
  5. Ability to read house/building plans
  6. Excellent computer skills
  7. Experience drawing in AppliCAD (or similar programs)
  8. Excellent self-organisation skills
  9. Excellent communication ability
  10. Initiative to improve our business processes
