Job Description:

Outback Gurkha's Bistro  is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join its team. The Chef will be responsible for preparing authentic dishes, managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and ensuring high food quality and safety standards. They will plan menus, source fresh ingredients, and bring creativity to both traditional and modern cuisine. A relevant qualification or equivalent experience is essential, along with a strong passion for Western food and culture. Task & Responsibilities

  • planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering food supplies
  • monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
  • demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
  • preparing and cooking food
  • explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
  • may select and train staff
  • may freeze and preserve foods

Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum  1 year experience in related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate the team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
