Task & responsibilities
- Design, plan, and manage diverse menu offerings, considering seasonal ingredient availability, dietary preferences, and budgetary constraints to ensure efficient kitchen operations and exceptional food quality.
- Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of high-quality dishes, maintaining consistency in flavor, texture, portion size, and visual appeal.
- Accurately estimate and manage food and labor costs, implementing cost-effective practices to support profitability while maintaining quality standards.
- Source and order fresh ingredients and essential kitchen supplies, effectively managing inventory to prevent shortages and minimize waste.
- Oversee all stages of food preparation and plating, ensuring that presentation and quality meet established standards.
- Enforce compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations as set by Australian food industry standards.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff in correct cooking methods, food handling, and sanitation procedures, fostering a skilled and efficient team.
- Collaborate with management, front-of-house staff, and kitchen personnel to resolve operational issues and enhance service delivery.
- Organize daily preparation schedules and allocate tasks to streamline kitchen workflows, especially during peak service times.

Qualification & experience
- Proven experience as a Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
- Relevant qualification in commercial cookery
- A culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, kitchen equipment, and cooking techniques.
