Task & responsibilities

  • Work with the Head Chef to plan menus, estimate food costs, and ordering food supplies
  • Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
  • Discussing food preparation issues with managers, kitchen and waiting staff
  • Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
  • To prepare and present all food items for the restaurant, ensuring all standards and procedures are maintained
  • Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities
  • To maintain the highest level of cleanliness in all kitchen sections ensuring all equipment and utensils are correctly stored at the conclusion of rostered shift.
  • To ensure the ordering of all food items is carried out for the assigned section in consultation with the Head Chef
  • All other duties as are directed by the Head Chef
  • Ensure that that all plant and equipment are maintained and cared for.
  • Follow the restaurants daily cleaning roster and waste disposal practises.
  • Ensure all employees are adhering to Workplace Health and Food Safety Standards Australia as outlined in the manual. 
  • All WH&S incidents to be documented including procedure applied to ensure prevention of all future occurrences.
  • Perform stock take on a daily basis and replenish appropriate items as required.
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by the managing director from time to time.

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Chef or similar role
  • Formal culinary trade qualification or in related discipline
  • Certification IV in Kitchen Management or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
