We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our team at Mathy Food Corner in Dandenong. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of traditional Sri Lankan dishes while maintaining high standards of quality, hygiene, and presentation. You will oversee kitchen operations, assist with menu development, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook traditional Sri Lankan dishes in compliance with industry standards, ensuring consistency and high quality.
  • Develop and refine recipes while adhering to the authentic Sri Lankan flavors, meeting the expectations of local food standards.
  • Manage kitchen operations, ensuring proper food preparation, cooking, and presentation in line with established workplace protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards, strictly following health and safety regulations as per workplace requirements.
  • Ensure efficient inventory management, monitoring stock levels, and ensuring timely ordering of ingredients, in line with business needs.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop new menu items and daily specials that align with industry trends and customer preferences.
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff to ensure their skills meet operational requirements and the restaurant's standards.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by consistently delivering high-quality meals, meeting established food service standards.

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Chef, preferably in Sri Lankan or South Asian cuisine.
  • Diploma or higher qualification in Cookery or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Passionate about food with a creative approach to menu development.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Understanding of kitchen health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
