Task & responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Assisting and/or leading the kitchen team in maintaining a smooth and efficient kitchen operation
- Utilising a variety of fresh, frozen and prepared ingredients to prepare, cook and present a range of dishes according to a seasonal menu and dietary requirements
- Ensure that meals are of high quality and prepared in a professional manner
- Assist with portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes (as per menu)
- Ensuring the cleanliness of kitchen work areas and equipment
- Assisting with training kitchenhands and other trainees
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
- Menu planning, preparation and pricing of foods as required in consultation with the restaurant owner
Qualification & experience
- A Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Diploma in Hospitality
- At least 12 months relevant work experience as a Chef;
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods – Indian cooking experience is an advantage;
- Previous experience in HACCP Food Quality and Safety is desirable;
- Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Good time management skills, positive and self-motivated; and
- Ability to work a flexible roster, including nights, weekends, school and public holiday periods.
