Tasks & responsibilities
- Work with the Head Chef to plan menus, estimate food costs, and ordering food supplies
- Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Discussing food preparation issues with managers, kitchen and waiting staff
- Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- To prepare and present all food items for the restaurant, ensuring all standards and procedures are maintained
- Storing food in temperature controlled facilities
- To maintain the highest level of cleanliness in all kitchen sections ensuring all equipment and utensils are correctly stored at the conclusion of rostered shift.
- To ensure the ordering of all food items is carried out for the assigned section in consultation with the Head Chef
- All other duties as are directed by the Head Chef
- Ensure that that all plant and equipment are maintained and cared for.
- Follow the restaurants daily cleaning roster and waste disposal practises.
- Ensure all employees are adhering to Workplace Health and Food Safety Standards Australia as outlined in the manual.
- All WH&S incidents to be documented including procedure applied to ensure prevention of all future occurrences.
- Perform stock take on a daily basis and replenish appropriate items as required.
- Any other reasonable duties as directed by the managing director from time to time.
Qualifications & experience
- Formal culinary trade qualification plus one year full time experience, alternatively 3 years of full time experience
- Degree in the Culinary Arts preferred
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
