What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced full-time Chef to join our Company. Our Cafe & Restaurant based in Bendigo which caters for mainly dine-in customers. The successful candidate must be available to work both day and evening shifts as well as weekends and must have in-depth knowledge of various popular Indian cuisines. We are seeking a dynamic Tandoor Chef with a proven track record in the Indian cuisine business to work with us in an exciting fulltime role in our restaurant.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Planning and preparing nutritious meals and food items.
  • Prepare meals to meet the needs of customers with special dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Develop and test new recipes for enterprise menus.
  • Plan, prepare, display, service and clear a buffet.
  • Order food supplies in consultation with Head Chef.
  • Ensure safe and hygienic storage, handling and preparation of food and drinks.
  • Ensuring cooking methods, portions and recipes are followed.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Maintaining a clean and well-presented kitchen compliant with food safety standards.
  • Work as part of a team to create a safe and friendly work environment.

Qualifications & experience

  • Relevant AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma (or 3+ years of formal experience in lieu of qualifications).At least 3 years of formal experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
  • Knowledge about Indian regional cuisines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to cultivate strong relationships in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to plan menus for different cultural/dietary requirements.
  • Experience in pans & grills and Indian Street food.
  • Ability to create authentic spice mixes and techniques to make masalas.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
