Emkay Fortune Pty Ltd, trading as Emkay Carpentry & Constructions, is currently seeking an experienced full-time Carpenter – Team Leader to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled and motivated tradesperson with strong leadership capabilities, capable of overseeing a team of carpenters and delivering high-quality results across our residential construction projects. You will play a crucial role in maintaining project timelines, ensuring compliance, and upholding the highest standards of workmanship.

Task & responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements, and Translating blueprints into reality with accuracy and finesse.
- Marking up slabs using measurements and layout tools to mark the positions of walls, doors, windows, and other structural elements on the foundation slab.
- Measuring, cutting, and shaping wood, plastic, fibreglass, or other materials according to the specifications.
- Installing structures and fixtures, such as wall and roof frames, windows, doors, trusses, and moulding etc.
- Constructing and assembling frameworks, partitions, and rafters, ensuring they are levelled and securely fastened.
- Working with project managers and architects to determine what a project needs, how long it will take, and how much it will cost.
- Leading and engaging in various construction projects, showcasing your carpentry expertise.
- Supervising a team of carpenters by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and checking their work.
- Communicating with procurement personnel to ensure timely availability of required materials and tools.
- Tracking work progress, materials usage, and documenting changes to plans.
- Coordinating materials and logistics to maximise project efficiency.
- Upholding safety and environmental protocols on-site and running weekly toolbox meetings.
- Training and supporting fellow tradespersons and contributing to the team’s development.
- Ensuring carpentry tools and equipment are maintained in good working condition.
- Troubleshooting issues that arise during carpentry and framing tasks.
- Assisting with budgeting and cost estimation for projects.
- Communicating effectively with clients and project stakeholders.
Qualification & experience
- AQF certificate III in Carpentry and 2 years of on-the-job training, or AQF certificate IV.
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in Australia.
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
- Strong teamwork and leadership abilities.
- Valid construction safety white card.
- Valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Sound understanding of construction materials, tools, and workplace safety practices.
