Job Description The Role We are seeking a commercially focused Business Analyst to join the MIOD team in Perth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Mitsui’s interests in the Robe River Iron Associates Joint Venture and the Pilbara Iron Infrastructure Agreement. You’ll play a key role in providing insightful commercial and financial analysis that supports MIOD’s decision-making, particularly around major capital expenditure proposals, budgets, forecasts and joint venture operations. This is a unique opportunity to gain high-level exposure to resource development projects and develop strong working relationships with joint venture partners and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities will include: Understanding major capital projects: Learn how large-scale investments are assessed, evaluated, and how your recommendations will impact decisions. Building and maintaining financial models: Develop practical modelling skills to support decision-making and contribute to budget and forecast analysis. Reviewing reports and studies: Analyse operational and financial data for insights, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements. Collaborating with joint venture partners: Build relationships and work with external stakeholders, participating in meetings to monitor operations. Supporting strategic planning: Contribute to long-term decision-making through research, analysis, and the review of tenure management applications. Desired Skills And Experience The Person You will be a motivated individual who enjoys working as a part of a successful team and is eager to contribute their enthusiasm, accuracy, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and external partners are essential. A solid grasp of commercial principles and strong financial analysis skills are important, and any exposure to the mining industry is a definite plus. Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, or related field. 3–5 years of experience in business evaluation, financial analysis, or auditing. Working knowledge of joint venture structures and financial principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical capability and attention to detail. Currently hold valid work rights in Australia. Desirable: Post Graduate Professional Qualification (e.g. CA/CPA qualified). Big 4 audit experience. Exposure or experience within the mining industry. Japanese language skills and culture awareness. Advanced computer literacy including the ability to build and maintain financial models.
